Heatwave Makeup Musthaves

It looks like we're in for a hot summer. We've already had a few days which have clocked over 38 degrees and it's only December, so I thought I'd put together a list of my makeup saviors that last through even the hottest and humid weather.

Avene SPF50+ Sunscreen

First things first, if you're going to be out in the sun you need to be wearing sunscreen. One of my favourites in Avene 50+ sunscreen for face, it offers both UVA and UVB protection, plus its formulated for sensitive skin and doesn't the greasy feeling of some sunscreens which makes it perfect for under makeup.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser

When it's really hot I like to keep things light when it comes to my foundation, so I tend to opt for a tinted moisturiser instead. My favourite is from Laura Mercier, it's extremely lightweight and offers sheer coverage, which you can build up a little. I do add a more coverage by using a foundation powder which I'll get into later.

Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

I can't say enough good things about the Maybelline age rewind concealer, it offers great coverage without being too thick or settling into fine lines. I'll add this to anywhere I need a little more coverage and use it spot conceal.

IT Cosmetics CC+ Powder

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better SPF50+ powder is a godsend in hot weather, it offers the coverage of a foundation powder which I find even outs my skin tone and gives you that extra bit of coverage that you don't get from the tinted moisturiser. It's also the perfect way to top up your SPF thought the day without ruining your makeup.

Bronzer & Highlight

I like to keep things simple when it's really hot, so I skip contour and blush altogether and just use a bronzer and highlight. My favourites are Marc Jacobs Omega Bronzer which has the perfect tone (not too cool, not too warm) and Fenty Beauty Killawatt highlighter in Lightning Dust which is more subtle.

Eyes & Lips

Again, I like to keep things light when it's hot and will often forgo eyeshadow and instead just define the outer edge of my of my eye with Stila Smudge Stick in Damsel and follow it up with Kevyn Aucoin's The Volume Mascara which uses a tubing formula so I don't have to worry about it transferring. On the lips I like to add a wash of colour, my favourite product for that is Lancome Juicy Shakers. A lip treatment with pigment that is nice and light without being sticky.

Kat Von D Lock It Setting Mist

To make sure everything stays in place all day you can't be without a good setting spray. Lately, I've been loving the Kat Von D Lock It Setting Mist, it is the finest spray in the land and genuinely extends the wear of your makeup. Plus smells like cucumber and mint when first sprayed which is just the refreshment you need on a hot day.
