My Morning Skincare Routine

My Morning Skincare Routine

Finding skincare that truly works for you can sometimes feel like an impossible task. I've tried everything from Cetaphil to La Mer in the search for the perfect concoction of products that actually make a difference to my skin. For the first time in a long time I feel like I've cracked it and found products that are actually working. So I thought I'd share my morning skincare routine with you.

The first thing you should know is that I have dehydrated skin, which means it not only gets extremely dry and flaky but my skin then overly produces oils to compensate for the dryness. Which often ends up it a build up of dry skin with loads of oil trapped underneath, of course, causing pimples.

My skin used to be extremely sensitive but has gotten less so as I've gotten older so while that is a concern it's not the most important one. I'm also in my thirties so I look for skincare that has anti-aging properties and will help reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Now that we've gotten that out of the way here's what I'm using:

Clinique Pep Start Cleanser

I love Clinique's Pep Start range and this cleanser is my favourite product in the line. I use it every morning in the shower to wash my face. It contains microparticles which allow you to cleanse and gently exfoliate at the same time. I find this really cleans away dirt and excess oils without completely stripping my skin and the manual exfoliation particles (made up of bamboo and natural silica) are perfect for removing dead skin without causing any damage.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

Once I'm out of the shower and my skin is dry I run a First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pad over my face and neck, which both exfoliates and tones the skin. They contain lactic and glycolic acids in safe amounts for daily use to exfoliate, cucumber and Indian gooseberry to tone, and lemon peel and licorice root to give you a glow from within. I've noticed a massive difference in my skin tone and texture since adding these to my daily routine.

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Serum

Drunk Elephant products have been a real game changer for me and I use them in both my morning and evening routines. C-Firma serum, in particular, has been instrumental in changing my skin for the better. Packed with powerful antioxidant complex, essential nutrients, fruit enzymes and a chronopeptide that provides the benefits of vitamin D (something my doctor has told me I'm lacking), they work together to firm and brighten the appearance of my skin while minimising the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel

I use the Drunk Elephant B-Hydra almost as a pre moisturiser moisturiser, it preps my skin to take has much hydration from other products as possible, whilst providing hydration itself. It contains provitamin B, pineapple ceramide, a watermelon rind/apple/lentil complex and sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer which provide unsurpassed hydration and act as a free radical scavenger and powerful antioxidant. It's also formulated at the molecular level which means the ingredient is actually able to penetrate the skin.

Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb

I complete my routine by using Belif's The True Cream Aqua Bomb. I used to use heavy/rich creams thinking they would provide better hydration but I've found swapping to a gel moisturiser has actually improved the dryness of my skin 100% more than creams ever did. This moisturiser contains Napiers Aqua Formula which includes the herb Lady Mantle (often referred to as the women's hydrating herb)  which softens the skin and is easily absorbed (unlike the rich creams which seemed to sit on top of my skin) for all day hydration.
